FAIRWAYiQ, the industry leader in golf course management analytics, automation, and management technology, has enhanced its golf cart GPS geofencing solution to keep carts on the path using edge computing and geofencing. Edge computing allows for fast and accurate computing of geofence violations on the cart GPS itself instead of in the cloud application.
“We are excited to bring edge computing to the golf industry, which continues to be behind other industries in terms of advanced technology.” explains Dave Vanslette, Founder and CEO at FAIRWAYiQ, “Many golfers have had terrible experiences where a cart beeps in error while on the cart path where it is allowed. The traditional golf cart GPS systems use older technology that allows for these errors. FAIRWAYiQ’s edge computing loads the geofence data onto the cart GPS unit so the cart’s real-time location can be checked instantaneously instead of going up over the internet to the cloud application, which causes delays. The system is fast and accurate, improving the player experience and eliminating erroneous violations.”
“One of the biggest issues we are working with customers today is protecting the course from excessive traffic. There is a lot more cart traffic due to the increase in rounds. The cost of replacing turf is expensive. Most customers using FAIRWAYiQ's golf cart GPS see a positive return on investment within 6 months.”, says Chuck Rogers, Head of Customer Success at FAIRWAYiQ, “The beeper is easy to install and does not require any modifications to the cart. This is very attractive to customers who lease their carts and don’t want to drill a hole in the cart altering it in any way.”
“FAIRWAYiQ’s geofencing system allows operations teams to receive alerts directly to their mobile phone so they know what’s happening on the course in real-time. The geofencing violations are saved to the player profiles for governance purposes. Players are alerted to the violation with a loud beeper installed in the cart from the GPS unit. The system can also automatically send players a notification when the violation occurs.”, says Dave Vanslette, “Labor shortages are being offset by adding golf cart GPS technology which is never sick and is easier to manage than people. Automating simple tasks using data is cost-effective and allows the golf operations staff to focus on the more difficult work of customer satisfaction which computers cannot do well. It’s the perfect mix.”

FAIRWAYiQ Announces “Mobile Cart Screen” For Private Carts at Golf Course Communities
FAIRWAYiQ, the leading AI, Automation, and GPS provider for the golf industry, has introduced a Mobile Cart Screen. This innovative product has been released to unobtrusively monitor private carts at golf course communities, while enhancing the player experience.
“FAIRWAYiQ has been monitoring private carts with dedicated GPS trackers since 2015.” says Dave Vanslette, Founder of FAIRWAYiQ, “The mobile cart screen was a natural extension to our in cart tablet experience and solves a lot of problems for HOAs, communities and golf operations.”
“Some golf course communities we work with mandate our GPS tracker on private carts. It’s part of their annual trail fees and cart registration process.” explains Mike Stahl, Sales Leader at FAIRWAYiQ. “Unless theHOA is able to mandate it, there could be some resistance from private cart owners which limits the golf operation team’s ability to monitor all carts on the golf course.”
“It’s critical to be able to monitor private carts to successfully manage the golf course at communities.” says Dave Vanslette. “Our mobile cart screen is temporarily attached to private carts and provides all of the same functionality as the cart tablets. This enhances the experience for private cart owners while not requiring a GPS unit to be installed permanently in the golf cart.”
“Mobile cart screens are much more economical than dedicated GPS devices for each private golf cart.” adds Mike Stahl, “We make it a priority to offer options to our customers at various price points.Communities can now choose the mobile cart screens or dedicated GPS trackers based on their culture and needs.”

FAIRWAYiQ Announces Golf Cart “Player Check-in” to Upgrade Integration to Tee Sheet Providers
January 23, 2024 – Waltham, MA
FAIRWAYiQ’s, the leading AI and Automation provider for the golf industry, has introduced Player Check-in. This innovative feature will be released in May on their in-cart GPS screen application, to make it easier for staff to manage carts and to take the friction out of the golfing experience.
“Managing a golf operation is no small task” says Dave Vanslette, Founder of FAIRWAYiQ, “In the golf industry, finding software applications that seamlessly work together can be a challenge. We have integrated with over a dozen tee sheet providers to enhance the efficiency of golf operations. Our ultimate goal is to improve the overall staff and player experience by finding ways to add greater value through integration with other software products.”
"At FAIRWAYiQ, we track player behavior during golf rounds. While our tee sheet integration simplifies player assignment to carts, we wanted to make it even easier," explains Chuck Rogers, the Director of Customer Success at FAIRWAYiQ. "Since golf cart keys are universal, our golf operations team couldn't predictably assign carts when players checked in at the shop. To address this, we decided to extract information from the tee sheet and allow players to sign in on the cart screen. This way, our staff knows who takes which cart, ensuring accountability and improving service. Surprisingly, we discovered that this approach had never been implemented before."
"Labor remains scarce and costly. By combining AI and automation with labor, we can deliver the ultimate player experience in a cost-effective manner," says Dave Vanslette. "Delivering technology solutions for the golf operation has never been more thrilling. Our team is more excited than ever before, even compared to when I first started the business over 9 years ago."
"We were thrilled when FAIRWAYiQ approached us to collaborate on their mobile and cart screen roadmap. As passionate golfers and tech enthusiasts, our team is incredibly excited to revolutionize cart screen and mobile player applications," says Sawyer Billings, Co-Founder of Fullsend Solutions. "Just like Steve Jobs used to say, 'and oh, one more thing.' We eagerly anticipate surprising the golfing community with our innovations."

FAIRWAYiQ Announces Smart Play Through for Cart Screen Application
January 17, 2024 – Waltham, MA
FAIRWAYiQ, the leading AI and Automation provider for the golf industry, has introduced Smart Play Through. This innovative feature is now available on their in-cart GPS screen application, revolutionizing the golfing experience..
"FAIRWAYiQ leverages the power of artificial intelligence and automation to ensure golfers can complete rounds in just 4 hours," explains Dave Vanslette, the Founder of FAIRWAYiQ. "While allowing groups to play through is a common practice to maintain the pace of play, it can sometimes lead to challenges."
"Our product team analyzed the data and made an interesting discovery: during peak times at the golf course, playing through leads to more issues. This prompted us to ask ourselves: why not give players the ability to see the traffic ahead?," explains Chuck Rogers, the director of customer success at FAIRWAYiQ. "It was an obvious decision, especially considering we have access to comprehensive traffic data for the entire golf course.”
"Many golf facilities do not have full-time staff on the course, so providing more information to players becomes crucial," explains Dave Vanslette. "Imagine having a cart screen that functions like Waze in your car, displaying what lies ahead. Players can then decide whether to proceed or skip a few holes, allowing them to make it to their kid's soccer game on time. By recognizing the value of players' time and offering a self-service solution, facilities can enhance the overall experience without incurring additional labor costs."
